YDN525 is a water-soluble methylated melamine-formaldehyde resin. It can partially dissolve in alcohols, polyols, fats, diethylene glycol e ther, and chlorinated solvents. It has good compatibility with film-forming substances such as short and medium oil alkyd resins, polyester resins, acrylic resins, epoxy resins, and cellulose. It is particularly compatible with water-based acrylic and polyester resins.
YDN525 can react with polymers containing hydroxyl, amide, and carboxyl groups. The low acid value of the matching main resin is sufficient to catalyze the cross-linking reaction, and rapid curing can be achieved without a strong acid catalyst. It can undergo self-condensation, and increasing the amino cross-linking agent content can increase the film hardness. Even at lower temperatures, YDN525 has a fast reaction rate. During baking, it can reduce the volatilization of low molecular weight resins in the system, with less weight loss and lower VOC volatilization, reducing exhaust emissions during coating and baking.
Coatings cross-linked with YDN525 have a low tendency to foam. It can improve the water resistance and salt spray resistance of water-borne coatings.
